Visit London

I’m going to visit London for the first time this summer and i’m so exceited!

Are there any places you can recommend?  Maybe there’s many nice places to see except just the tourist places?

I’ve heard Madame Tussauds and London Eye is a little bit overrated, true or not?

Thankful for tips and recommendations 🙂

  1. Välkommen, Sofia! The London Eye is all right but, yes, they’re overrated.
Take the riverside walk on the north bank from Tower Bridge to Waterloo Bridge. Go to Brick Lane for a curry. You have to visit the two Tate Galleries, the National and the Portrait Galleries – also the British Museum. Have a look around Camden and its market. Have a great holiday!

    1. Tack så mycket Paul! That’s great recommendations and I think I would like to see them all, they are all things I’m interested in. 🙂 Have a lovely weekend!

  2. I haven’t been to London myself for many years so I refrain from advising you, but I wish you lots of fun and a happy, exciting time in the big city!
    Big hug
    Dina

  3. Just been there – again. Agree on museums and Camden – but as I’m a cemetery freak I advise you to go to Highgate just by Hampstead Heath. Just fantastic with ivy clad stones and old roses.
Famous people buried. Our big surprise was Douglas Adams with a big jar of pencils from his admirers standing by his stone. Covent Garden of course – free entertainment! Musicals? Go see Billy Elliot! (Victoria) AMAZING dance by the guys (11 and 13 year old ballet dancers!) Great story. If you haven’t seen the movie, it’s about a young boy in a miners’ society wanting to be a ballet dancer …you can imagine the tough, male society and this strong but still sensitive boy.breaking every rule.

And Foyles of course – BOOKS! And the world’s most marvellous toy shop – Hamleys.
Have a great time! You certainly will!

    1. Thank you so much! The cemetry Highgate is a nice advice! I thought Douglas Adams was still alaive?! Anyway, Covent Garden seems great too, Piccadilly Circus I would like to go to also. Foyles and Hamleys seems nice too! Thank you, hopefully it would be great 🙂

    1. Thank you so much! I will have a look at them. 🙂

I watched some movies about London and I will absolutely go to Camden and their markets. Been there? 🙂

Notting Hill seems great too 🙂

  4. I’ve not been to London for many years now, but I would agree that Madame Tussauds is a little over rated. I remember I went there with my dad in 1981 at age 13, and discovered to my great delight a Dr Who room, full of moving Daleks and monsters and aliens of every kind, and of course the lovely blue Tardis – I was beside myself with excitement! But really, the rest was very good likenesses but a bit dull, and the chamber of horrors left me with horrible images of real life murderers – not nice. We skipped that bit on a second visit! 🙂

If you want to see a very classy shop other than Harrods, I really enjoyed going to Liberties, fascinating shop, and such a posh English tea room! But that was over 20 years ago now, so maybe they are not so posh now days, but it’s certainly not a cheap experience, unless you are just looking! 😉

    1. Ah, maybe Madame Tussauds will be a nice experience then.
Hard to tell now, but you seemed to have fun there! 🙂
Liberties could be a nice experience too, with the tea room 🙂

What about the China town, Towern of London and St Pauls Cathedral?

Thank you for your comment 🙂

      1. I’ve never been to the Tower Of London I asked my brother yesterday, as I knew he’d been there a few times. He said, if you like the idea of looking at a lot things relating to British History, the Monarchy and of course – the Crown Jewels, then you might enjoy that. If history is not your interest then it might be a little heavy to enjoy. He also recommended visiting Buckingham Palace. You won’t get to see the whole place of course, but I’m sure it will be a unique experience. I need to do that myself – I never have. It’s funny when these places are so near, you tend forget all about them! 🙂

  5. Ok, maybe Towern is a little to much, I don’t know, but it have been recommended to me bo others. I will see then… Buckingham palace might be nice too se. Thank you so much for the links! 🙂
